Player Safety & Wellbeing

Responsible
Gambling at Booqie

Gambling is entertainment — it should never be a source of financial stress, relationship strain, or personal harm. Booqie is committed to providing every player on our platform with the tools, information, and support they need to make informed decisions about their gambling. This page is here to help.

Built-In Controls for Safer Play

Every one of these tools is available in your Booqie account settings, accessible at any time. No waiting period, no approval process — set them immediately whenever you need to.

Deposit Limits

Set a daily, weekly, or monthly cap on how much you can deposit into your Booqie account. Once a limit is active, it cannot be increased for a mandatory cooling period — typically 7 to 14 days — to prevent impulse decisions. Decreasing a limit takes effect immediately.

Loss Limits

Define the maximum amount you are comfortable losing in a given period. Once your loss limit is reached, your account will be temporarily restricted from further wagering until the reset period. This is one of the most effective tools for keeping gambling within budget.

Session Time Limits

Set a maximum session duration per day. When your limit is reached, you will receive a clear notification and may be logged out automatically if you have configured the hard-stop option. Session reminders help you stay aware of time spent on the platform.

Cooling-Off Period

Take a short break of 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. During a cooling-off period, your account is suspended from deposits and wagering. You retain access to view your account history and transaction records, but cannot place bets or make deposits.

Self-Exclusion

Self-exclusion permanently or long-term suspends your Booqie account. You can choose a period of 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or permanent exclusion. Once active, self-exclusion cannot be reversed during the chosen period — not even by contacting support. This is designed to be a firm, binding commitment to yourself.

Reality Checks

Receive on-screen notifications at regular intervals (every 30, 60, or 90 minutes) showing you how long you have been playing and a summary of your session — wins, losses, and time elapsed. Reality checks are a gentle, factual reminder that keeps you informed throughout your session.

Responsible Gambling is Core to Everything We Do

🛡️
The 21+ Commitment

Booqie enforces a strict minimum age of 21 for all registered players. Age verification is mandatory at registration and at the point of first withdrawal. Any account discovered to belong to an individual under 21 will be closed immediately, all balances forfeited, and the matter reported to relevant authorities where required by law. We ask that all adults who use this platform also take responsibility for ensuring that minors in their household cannot access their Booqie account.

At Booqie, responsible gambling is not a footnote in our terms and conditions. It is an active operational commitment that influences how we build the platform, how we train our support team, and how we respond when a player shows signs of gambling-related distress. Every player who uses Booqie — whether they are a casual slot player in Petaling Jaya or a regular live dealer table guest in Kuala Lumpur — deserves a safe and controlled environment to enjoy the platform on their own terms.

Gambling, when approached correctly, is a form of entertainment. The vast majority of Booqie players set a budget, stick to it, and enjoy what the platform offers without any negative consequences. But we know that for some players, what starts as entertainment can develop into something more difficult to manage. Problem gambling affects individuals and families across Malaysia — it is not a failure of character, and it is not something you have to navigate alone.

That is why Booqie invests in prevention rather than reaction. Our responsible gambling tools are not buried in a settings menu — they are accessible from the main account dashboard. Our support team is trained to recognise risk indicators and to respond with empathy and practical assistance, not judgment. And our platform systems actively monitor for patterns that may indicate problematic play, allowing us to proactively reach out when appropriate.

We work in conjunction with internationally recognised responsible gambling frameworks, including guidance from GamCare and the standards set by our international gaming licence authority. These frameworks inform our policies, our player monitoring procedures, and the design of our protective tools.

One of the most important things you can do as a player is to gamble with money you can genuinely afford to lose — never with money needed for rent, bills, groceries, or other essential expenses. Gambling on credit or borrowed money is a warning sign worth taking seriously. If you find yourself in that situation, please use the tools available in your account or contact our support team. We would rather pause your account and know you are okay than have you continue in a way that causes real harm.

When Gambling Stops Being Entertainment

Problem gambling often develops gradually. These warning signs are not meant to cause alarm — they are here so that you or someone you care about can recognise them early and take action before the situation worsens.

01
Spending More Than You Can Afford

Depositing money that is meant for rent, bills, food, or other essential expenses. Feeling a need to gamble with increasing amounts to achieve the same feeling of excitement.

02
Chasing Losses

Continuing to gamble specifically to try to recover money that has already been lost, often placing larger bets than intended in the process. This cycle rarely resolves itself without intervention.

03
Gambling Affecting Relationships or Work

Spending time gambling that was meant for family, friends, or work obligations. Arguments about money or time, secrecy about gambling activity, or neglecting responsibilities in favour of gambling sessions.

04
Difficulty Stopping

Feeling restless, irritable, or anxious when attempting to reduce or stop gambling. Repeated failed attempts to cut back or quit, even when you genuinely intend to do so.

05
Borrowing Money to Gamble

Taking out loans, borrowing from friends or family, or using credit to fund gambling activity. This is one of the clearest indicators that gambling has crossed from entertainment into harmful territory.

06
Gambling to Cope with Stress or Emotions

Using gambling as a way to escape stress, anxiety, depression, or difficult life circumstances. While this is understandable, it can accelerate problem gambling significantly.

07
Hiding Gambling Activity

Lying to family members, partners, or friends about how much time or money is spent on gambling. Deleting transaction records or using separate payment methods to conceal gambling activity.

A Simple Self-Assessment

Answer these questions honestly — not for us, but for yourself. If you find yourself answering "yes" to two or more, it may be worth speaking to someone or using the account tools available to you.

Remember: This is not a clinical diagnostic tool. It is a reflective prompt. If you have concerns about your gambling behaviour — even mild ones — talking to someone is always a worthwhile step. Booqie's support team can activate protective tools on your account immediately, without judgment.

Have you ever gambled with money you could not afford to lose, or that was set aside for something else?

Have you ever tried to win back money you had lost on a previous session, rather than accepting the loss?

Has someone close to you ever expressed concern about how much time or money you spend on gambling?

Have you ever lied to a family member, partner, or friend about your gambling activity?

Have you ever felt a need to gamble with increasingly large amounts to feel the same level of excitement?

Have you ever missed work, family commitments, or important responsibilities because of time spent gambling?

Have you ever gambled as a way to cope with stress, depression, anxiety, or difficult emotions?

Have you borrowed money — from a person or a lender — specifically to fund gambling activity?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, please consider using Booqie's self-exclusion or deposit limit tools, or reaching out for independent support. See the resources listed below.
